TUI NA

TUI NA

Tui Na refers to a range of traditional massage techniques based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and is similar to acupuncture since it targets specific acupoints. The term Tui Na literally means “pinch and pull,” and during a treatment practitioners use fingers instead of needles to apply pressure, a technique popularly known as “acupressure.”

This form of massage is not typically used for relaxation, and unlike Western massage techniques, Tui Na massage works with the body on an energetic level, not just on a muscular level. Instead, it’s used as a treatment to address specific issues such as superficial injury and trauma, neck pain, back pain, and a range of musculoskeletal problems. Tui Na massage is often used in concert with other TCM therapies including acupuncture, Chinese herbal remedies, moxibustion, and cupping.
