SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a non-surgical treatment used to decrease pain and increase range of motion, and has been found to be beneficial in the treatment of chronic pain, soft tissue injuries, and neuralgias. During this treatment, the shockwave (an acoustic wave that carries high levels of energy to painful spots) promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues. This leads to faster healing and long-term regeneration of the affected areas.

This treatment is an ideal therapy to speed up recovery for patients with these conditions because it is a non-invasive, non-surgical therapy and requires no painkillers. Many patients experience relief and increased range of motion immediately following the first treatment, however, the number of ESWT treatments required varies depending on the patient’s response, and because the treatment is cumulative.
